An idol. Do you have one? Even if you don’t, take a few minutes to read this, because it might help you understand more about those who do, And for those of you who do, well maybe you agree.
As someone who didn’t have an idol till last year, I can speak on behalf of both views. I personally never understood the impact an idol had on someone and never understood why those who did, went all gaga over them. But when I did find my idol, that impression started to change. I saw a post recently that said “Never criticize someone’s idol because it may be the only reason they survive” To be honest, a year ago, it would have cringed me out. So for those of you who are cringing right now if you have gotten to this point of reading the article, I get where you’re coming from. But now that I think about it, does it hold some truth? I feel it does.
We as teens are probably the most judgemental beings to exist. It’s a phase don’t worry. We are so quick to judge anything and everything if it’s not mainstream. Whether consciously or unconsciously, it happens. For those of you who are into the Kworld, Anime, and follow any other idols in the western world that aren’t mainstream you may already be used to the hate. My point is that to those of you who have such friends, family or people you know, try to understand it from their point of view. Their lives may have changed dramatically because of their idols. Maybe its one of the things which keep them going when everything seems a blur, especially during these times of uncertainty and being indoors 24/7. Even if it is just a major stan or crush and nothing more, it’s still valid. So kudos to friends who support this. And an even bigger kudos to those who did every possible thing to convince their friend to be supportive. *Claps for everyone*
I guess what I’m trying to say to those of you who have not died of boredom or stopped reading this because you think I’m just another fangirl who has gone overboard, and maybe I have, but if you’ve made it this far, I might have done something right. But really, the extent to which idols influence people in good ways is unimaginable, and might be taboo if you don’t have one yet (feel free to search, it’s fun and it relieves boredom too, and I think we all need that right now). It’s totally ok if you don’t either cuz that was not my point.
My point is - during these difficult times of uncertainty in particular, idols are appreciated. So to all those idols, Thank you sincerely, for The impact you all have although you may not know it. To all the friends who try harder to understand, we thank you too. And finally to all the fangirls and guys, We know that it’s a different kind of happiness. Am I right or am I right ;)
